Race Preview: Lake George
The NECTC travels to its 3rd state in as many weeks, this time racing at New York's Lake George. Twelve teams comprised of nearly one hundred triathletes will race for the 150 points up for grabs.
Last year's race was dominated by West Point who took the male team victory and female team victory. Dylan Morgan (West Point) and Cecelia Davis-Hayes (Columbia) were the overall winners in 2:00:41 and 2:14:45 respectively.
The male race is lined up to be the most competitive race this season thus far. Spencer Ralston (St. Mikes) is the top returner, coming off a victory at Rev3 Maine and looking to take hold of the conference overall standings. Nicholas Chatel and Peter Hetzel from West Point both finished within 30 seconds of Ralston in last year's championship, and will be looking for a change in the final script. Andrew Keenan (Drexel) is also in the mix for a podium spot after finishing 2nd in last week's race.
Like Ralston, Meg Smith (Drexel) is coming off a victory last week and looking to put a stamp on the overall season standings. Last year Smith finished 4th in this race, but is the top returner this year. Unless one of the West Point ladies can bridge the gap, this could be a runaway victory for Smith.
On the team front, West Point again has the deepest top 4 in the field on both the male and female side. Northeastern has started off the season strong, and looking to have a solid race to keep their second place female team and first place male team on top of the standings. UConn however is in the mix and will be looking to knock off Northeastern for podium spots.
