The 2018 season is in the books and this season there are some familiar faces on the top step, and some brand new ones!
In the male individual standings it was Penn State's Matthew Guenter leading throughout with overall wins in all three olympic distance races at Lake George, Lobsterman and Westchester. The last male to win all three olympic distances races was also from Penn State, and that was Jason West in the 2015 season. Thatcher Shepard (West Point) finished the season on the second step, which was nothing new for Shepard this season, finishing 2nd at Cranberry, Lake George, Lobsterman and Westchester. UMass athlete, Alexandre Pelletier rounded out the overall podium with 3rd place finished in all three Olympic distances races this season.
Hannah White and Payton Boylston of West Point dueled continually this season for the top spot on the female side, racing head to head four times. Although Boylston took the top spot at the conference championship, it was not quite enough to top White who won the other three head to head matchups. White ended the season with 492 points, and Boylston ended with 482 points. Penn State's Madeline Broussard cemented her podium position with a second place finish in the conference championship, ending the season with 443 points.
In the team competitions, West Point continues their dominance winning each of the male, female and combined team championships with a full 500 points in each! Northeastern takes second in all three categories in their strongest season to date with 415 points in the combined category. UConn finished out the podium with 380 points.
