Race Recap: Lake George
Another weekend is in the books, and the overall standing have taken a major turn. The morning started off a bit cool, but warmed up nicely during the bike leg, and stayed comfortable throughout.
The male race started things off with Spencer Ralston (Saint Mike's), Peter Kamianowski (UConn), and Andrew Keenan (Drexel) coming out of the water as the top three males. On the bike however, Ralston put down the hammer and extended his lead to about 2 minutes over Keenan and 9+ minutes over third. In the run portion the lead continued to grow with Ralston putting down a 37:31 on this long and hilly course to take the win by over 5 minutes in 2:02:11. Keenan wrapped up second place comfortably in 2:07:34, and West Point's Nicholas Chatel rounded out the podium in 2:13:14. With these performances Ralston moves to 1st in the conference standings, and Keenan moves to 3rd.
The male team race was all West Point, with Nicholas Chatel, Dylan Varrato and Tom Prinslow taking 3rd, 4th and 5th overall. Their total score was topped of with Paul O'Donnell taking 8th. Northeastern led by Robert Nathan was able to squeeze by UConn for second 345 to 339.
The female race had no major surprises. Teresa Groton (West Point) lead the entire time and won in a time of 2:27:50. Ellen Witkowski and Stephanie Lie of BU did what we are becoming accustomed to and took 2nd and 3rd overall. Meghan Smith (Drexel) had a costly bike mistake which put her just off the podium in 4th.
The team race was a little closer on the female side, but West Point still prevailed over 2nd place UConn and 3rd place Northeastern. Hailey Conger, Megan jarrell, and Katrina Josberger took 7th, 9th and 11th to add on to Teresa Groton's overall win.
